Submission for Ms. Kaman Wong for hearing before the Honourable Madam Justice Liza Wong at High Court Hong Kong, Court No.18, 10:30am on 18 October 2025.

My Lady,
It is my pleasure today to move the admission of Ms. Wong Ka Man, Kaman, as a solicitor of the High Court Hong Kong SAR.
Family Background
Kaman comes from a typical middle-class family in Hong Kong. Her parents worked tirelessly to provide for a family of four, embodying the values of hard work, perseverance, and resilience.
Education and Career Journey
After graduating from secondary school, Kaman obtained a professional diploma in office administration, which opened the door to the legal sector.
She began her career as a secretary at a renowned international law firm, where she met her first boss—a junior lawyer who often found himself with very limited support in the firm. Therefore he relied on Kaman for almost everything, from preparing bills and client correspondence to drafting summonses, affirmations, statements, and even trial bundles.
The pressure and challenges of this role sparked Kaman’s determination to deepen her understanding of the law. With determination, she dedicated herself to the LLB program.
Education in Hong Kong is not cheap, and Kaman’s journey was made possible through the unwavering support of her mother, by waiving her contribution to monthly household expense, and her husband, who also provided financial assistance, and —perhaps unintentionally—a different kind of motivation. His doubts about Kaman’s ability to complete the notoriously demanding LLB program, fueled Kaman’s determination to prove him wrong. And prove him wrong she did, graduating LLB with a first-class honor.
Despite her friends and colleagues advice, Kaman went on to complete the PCLL program while still working as a full-time secretary. Once again, she excelled, graduating with outstanding results.
Joining Our Firm
Kaman had offers from many prestigious firms, but, to our great fortune, she chose ours. I’m told her decision was sealed during her interview when she saw lawyers playing poker in the next conference room. She felt the friendly and innovative culture of our firm aligned perfectly with her values. Today, she is an integral part of our practice, focusing on dispute resolution.
Acknowledgments
Kaman’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her husband, who witnessed her complete all challenges one by one, often reminds her that she owes him a big thanks for his “support” over the years.
Kaman, however, firmly believes that she owes equal gratitude to her mother, who had unwavering faith in her, and to her colleagues, whose friendship and teamwork made even the most boring paperwork bearable.
She has also asked me to express her heartfelt thanks to:
Her mother, her husband, for their continuous support;
Her former bosses, Mr. Li and Mr. Sham;
Her friends and colleagues, for the laughter and encouragement along the way; and finally,
Myself, her present boss, for the guidance (and occasional pushes and bully) I’ve had the privilege of providing over the years.
Conclusion
My Lady, the papers for this application are in order, and I am pleased to inform the Court that the Department of Justice has no objection to this application.
I humbly move this Court to admit Kaman as a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong SAR.
