01What is trademark?
A trademark is a sign that distinguishes the goods and services of one trader from those of others.

02How trademark registration protects you?
A registered trademark legally protects a name, logo or slogan used to identify a business or product. Trademarks can be registered in nearly every country in the world. You should aim to protect your trademark wherever your goods are sold or your services are provided now or in the future.

03What can be registered as a trademark?
Typically a trademark can be words (including personal names), indications, designs, letters, characters, numerals, figurative elements, colours, sounds, smells, the shape of the goods or their packaging or any combination of these. A sign must be capable of being represented graphically in order for it to be registered as a trademark.

04How is a trademark registered?
1) Filed with the appropriate trademark office.
2) Contain a clear reproduction of the sign filed for registration, including any colors, forms, or three-dimensional
3) Contain a list of goods or services to which the sign would apply.
4) The rights applied for cannot be the same as, or similar to, rights already granted to another trademark owner.

05How extensive is trademark protection?
Almost all countries in the world register and protect trademarks. Each national or regional office maintains a Register of Trademarks which contains full application information on all registrations and renewals, facilitating examination, search, and potential opposition by third parties. The effects of such a registration are, however, limited to the country.

06What our quoted fee is included?
The fee we quoted in this handbook includes application fee, publication fee and registration fee. For power of attorney, authorizations, oppositions, translation or any other specific documents and requirements, extra fees would be required.
